In light of this holiday season, a time in which we are given the opportunity to stop and reflect upon what God is doing in our lives, there are lots of things to be thankful for. MYTHIRDPLACE students and mentors were all asked what they were personally thankful for this season, as well as why they were thankful for MYTHIRDPLACE. We wanted to highlight a handful of the blessings we get to take part in here at M3P.
Cathy C. teen – I am thankful for my mom and everything she has done for me throughout these fourteen years and how my dad sacrifices long nights just to provide for us. I am thankful for M3P because it has guided me along the right paths these past two years.
Jessica G. staff – I am thankful for the opportunity to receive an education and to have so many people who support and believe in me. I am thankful for M3P because it is not only a third place for students to come but it is a third place for mentors and staff as well.
Michael M. teen – I am thankful for my beautiful M3P family.
Anita M. teen – I am thankful for my family and community, and for all the M3P mentors giving me advice and making me laugh.
Paige F. mentor – I am thankful for my friends, family, and all the opporuntuites I have been able to receive here at APU and in Azusa. I am thankful that I get to work to mentor the youth of this area with M3P.
Olivia R. mentor – I am thankful for a mom who loves me immensely and a community that challenges me to live an authentic life for Christ. I am thankful for a leader (Adrian) who has a genuine passion for M3P and cares about me and others so well.
Adrian M. teen – I am thankful for M3P because it is always there when I am mad or sad and it always cheers me up.
Waldo A. mentor – I am thankful for all the people in my life including students and mentors.
Terri G. mentor – I am thankful that God put such amazing people in my life that are not afraid to be my rock when I am falling apart.
Ozzy L. teen – I am thankful for MYTHIRDPLACE existing and for Adrian being a father figure to me for seven years.
Christian N. mentor – I’m thankful for God’s grace and that no matter how many times I’ve let go of Him, He kept a hold on me. I’m so thankful for the relationships I’m building and for the love the M3P fam has showed me and my kids in our transition in.
Damian Z. teen – I’m thankful for my mom for helping me and being there for me and taking care of me for when I’m sick.
Mikey G, intern – I’m thankful for my education and getting to study what I love to do what I love with my future. I’m so thankful that I have been able to better understand my gifts and passions this semester through my work with M3P.
Brandon B. mentor – I am thankful for seeing God’s promises unfold throughout the years. I’m thankful that I have a small circle of genuine people around me who have my best interest. I am thankful for the ability to be working with mentors who are selflessly serving the youth in this community. And I am thankful for the relationships that I built with the teens.
We hope you had, and continue to have, a blessed Thanksgiving weekend. While we understand it gets a little crazy with the amount of family and food around at this time, don’t forget to stop and be thankful for the abundance that we have the freedom to experience thanks to His goodness. “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.
